La médiation équine

Equine mediation with a therapeutic or social aim is a caring or helping relationship between humans with the participation of a horse. This collective work proposes a synthesis of studies on this activity which arouses more and more the interest of professionals from the medical, paramedical and social sectors.

After having defined disability as well as equine mediation, the authors address the effects of this relationship on people with certain motor or sensory disorders.

A significant part of the work then deals with the impact of equine mediation on people with mental or cognitive disorders. If it does not mention the activities related to coaching and personal development, it does not omit the specific audiences that constitute the elderly and the judicialized persons.

The authors finally raise the question of the ethics and risks of these interventions for the beneficiaries but also for the particular actors that are the horses, ponies, donkeys, mobilized in mediation.

For each of the themes, this book gives background information and presents the hypotheses and commented results of the most interesting scientific articles on equine mediation currently with, in a few chapters, more concrete examples of implementation.
